Sponsor Products: Arrow® CVC with Arrowg+ard® Protection

Description of the Product

Arrowg+ard® Protection is an antimicrobial solution of chlorhexidine and silver sulfadiazine. Arrowg+ard Blue Plus® catheters are protected both inside and out, including the extension lines and hubs. The chlorhexidine is applied to the catheter to protect against Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs).

ARROW CVC
How It Works

Chlorhexidine "preps" the subcutaneous catheter tract and kills organisms in places that you can't reach. Arrowg+ard Blue Plus® Protection alone protects the catheter hub and extension lines where clinicians access the catheter. Chlorhexidine/silver sulfadiazine antimicrobial catheters such as Arrow® CVCs with Arrowg+ard® Protection are a CDC 1A recommendation for the prevention of catheter-related bloodstream infection.20

Scientific Evidence

The ability of Arrowg+ard® Protection to safely protect against infection and reduce costs has been supported by more than 30 independent studies.30 No other catheter has such a strong track record or broad-spectrum activity. Maki et al. found that Arrowg+ard® Protection reduces bacterial colonization of the catheter by 44% and catheter-related bacteremia by an even greater 79%.16 Arrowg+ard® Protection has shown antimicrobial activity against the pathogens responsible for CLABSI. This includes a wide array of gram-positive bacteria, including S. epidermidis, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and S. aureus and gram-negative bacteria, including Enterococci and Pseudomonas; and fungi, including C. albicans.17
